Half and Half

The hot plumbing on a commercial water heater flows out the top, while what would be the incoming cold port on the other side is plugged.

This is not a standard plumbing term, but our way to describe a water heater that has the cold plumbing coming in low down on the side, as at right, with the hot plumbing exiting through the cover of the tank, below, as opposed to top-plumbed or side-plumbed. For whatever reason, the installer capped the cold-port nipple on this tank.
