This is one of the newer heaters in the collection, dating from around 1950. It’s a German design, and the company starting making water heaters in the late 1870s. It is far advanced over the original bath heaters.
Likely, European travelers have run across these from time to time, mounted on walls. They are very efficient and built to last.
