    Hi,

I was asked to look at this Weil Mclain (attachments enclosed) in order to find a leak. Looking at the pictures i assumed it was leaking from the domestic water outlet. My plan of attack was going to be cleaning it up, taking it appart, and wrapping it in new tape. Does that seem accurate? Is there more involved? Would i need to drain the hot water heater?

Hello: Looking at that dielectric, I think there is more involved. The dielectric itself should be replaced. Actually, I’m not a fan of these goodies as they rust and do just what this one did. If that is 3/4″ pipe, I’d prefer to use a copper flex connector. You would need to sweat a male adapter to the copper pipe, but then the rest is just teflon tape and threaded fittings. Easy 😉

    Yours, Larry
