The Tank › Water not consistently hot
- December 28, 2014 at 3:27 pm #21503
We recently moved into a used mobile home. The water heater is not heating consistently. Some days the water is nice and hot. Some days it is only warm. What could the problem be? I am not sure of the model or year of the heater. The mobile home was built in 1986.

From the Tank topics index, click on the Tanklets link at the lefthand side of the page, and then click on The Deadband. That sounds like your problem, and I have it myself with my own heater. I just work within the limits.

Thank you but the “deadband” is not there. I know when I was here last Saturday it was there. But it is gone now.

If that’s the issue, you’ll see it again. Mine doesn’t do it every time, but it is a bit tepid from time to time.

Here is another thought. In Tanklets, click on Cross Connections and do the simple test described there.
