Hi I am in need of a new electric water heater and also need to treat my well water. I have treated my well a few times but keep getting a positve for Bacteria. Could it be the build up of sediment in the bottom of the tank?
My wife wants to treat the well again before getting the new tank, and I am thinking the opposite.
    Thanks for any advice.

The only way the water heater could be causing a problem like that is if the several check valves that should be in place to prevent backflow had failed. Like as not, the bacteria source is in the ground. But could you give us more information as to the type of bacteria?

Thanks Randy but my heater finally crapped out last night so I am off to buy a new one today. Thanks again.

Don’t know if you’ll be back to read this or not, but it seems to me you still have the same issue to resolve.
