Hello: Gas heaters can make a thumping sound if they fire under no water pressure. Do you know you have water flowing into the heater? Minus 25 is COLD 😯 I know there are electrical ways to defrost frozen lines, but have no direct experience with the methods. Calling a local plumber with that experience and equipment might be something to consider. Stay warm!

    Yours, Larry
