In remodelling an old building, opted for a tankless water heater. However, poor water quality with noxious odor and black goo required the installation of a water purification system. Two weeks later, entered basement room where water purification system is installed and found plastic top literally blown off the unit. Was this due to build up of Hydrogen sulfide gas? How can this be averted in the future?

Hello: Probably your best bet is to contact the manufacturer of your purification equipment and see what they say about this. They will want a LOT more information about the circumstances.

    Yours, Larry
