found a small puddle coming from under the hot water heater (at approx 10am). sopped it up with a small towel (thats all it took). its now 11pm and not a single drop has come back yet. i am paranoid, as the heater does not have a drain. do i need to replace it? it is about 10 years old. is it normal for a small amount of water to show up under a heater or is it def’ a leak? please pardon my ignorance on the subject, and any info/help offered would be greatly appreaciated!

Hello: There is a lot of reading material elsewhere on this site about how to diagnose a water heater, but basically, it is leaking from a fitting and it likely can be fixed; or it is not leaknig from a fitting and you should start shopping for a new heater.

    Yours, Larry

ps. Just because you found water under the heater does not rule out a leak elsewhere 😉
