Within the past couple of weeks, I have to hit the reset button on my hot water heater. Is this a sign of impending problems? What would cause this to happend so frequently?

If you know how to use a multimeter, you can go to Tanklets, reachable from the link at the top of The Tank, and use the troubleshooting guide to find out. But the short answer is probably bad element or bad thermostat. If you are unfamiliar with 220 volts, however, have a professional do it, as you can get yourself killed quite fast.

About how much should that cost to get replaced?

Thermostats and elements are only $10 to $15 each but labor will be one to two hours if you hire it done.
