I have a little water leak where the valve connects to the tank.My guess is that the tank is okay(even though its 14 years old)and that the pressure releif valve needs to be replaced.not sure what size that it is and do you just take the pressure off the tank after shutting off inlet and turning gas to pilot and draining some water and it just screws out and new one in.
    Thanks dobok

Yes. But you’d do well to check the anode, too. Fourteen years is fairly old and when water starts to leak from nipple or valve ports that were tight up to that point, it is a bad sign. If the valve itself is leaking, that’s different. They commonly fail.
