The Tank › Powered Anode for Vertex (GDHE-50)?

Hello, we are experiencing some smelly water and I found the site after some research. As far as I can tell, I only have one Anode on this tank, but another post here on The Tank said something different (http://www.thetankatwaterheaterrescue.com/forums/forum3/3996.html). Do I actually have 2 and didn’t know it? I have replaced the one 3 or 4 times now and still have to flush the tank at least every other week to combat the smell.
We are interested in the powered anode, but I noticed before ordering it that it is not for use with the A.O. Smith Vertex. Is there another option for me?

It has one hex type in its own port and one combo type in the hot port, and it is so crowded inside the blower housing that a powered anode, which sticks up several inches, really can’t be used. I’d suggest leaving the anodes alone and replumbing to let you easily add hydrogen peroxide and control the odor that way. Look here: http://www.waterheaterrescue.com/pages/WHRpages/English/OrderPages/XCart/Peroxide-Fix-Hardware.html to see what I mean.
