I installed a new gas valve, turned the gas on/etc… but cannot get the pilot light to start up.

Connected pilot tube, with a new thermocouple, and of course main burner line. Yes- gas is on. There are apparently two wires on the back of this that I didn’t bother to use at all as I did not have them on my previous valve. Do these attach somewhere?

You bought the wrong valve. Jumping the two wires would get it going but I believe the valve you bought is rated at 5.0″ w.c and your old valve was 4.0″w.c. Read the specs on the side of the thermostat. Be careful!
