I have a drip coming from the front of my water heater that sometimes sizzles when it hits the flame area underneath. I can see the drip on the floor directly beneath the HW heater, but where might it be coming from? Thermometer? Where is the most likely place to leak? It is a 40-gal, gas unit.

It could merely be condensation from cold water heating, or it might be something more sinister. Does this happen when the heater first fires up, or all the time?

How old is the water heater? What brand is it? If you don’t know the answer to the age question, go to the homepage, then Troubleshooting, then Lingo, then Label to learn how to read the label for age.
