Hi I’m new here. So I am trying to replace the thermocouple on my water heater. My issue is that the one that I pulled out does not have a copper wire attached but a red and white wire attached. The wires were plugged in to the front of the control panel. The new assembly only has the copper wire attached to it. My question is do I just scrap the old assembly and ignore the wires? None of the videos I watched had this issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, I think you got the wrong part. This might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLmqM5PDHes You might need a thermopile rather than a thermocouple.

    Yours, Larry
