Hi, I need help in removing our lower heating element. We tested it with a meter, and found that it needs to be replaced. Should be easy enough, but it has some corrosion on it, and the element removal tool does not want to budge it. Are there any suggestions for this??? Please help!

Hello: The standard stamped sheet metal tools for this are not wonderful :P. I’d find or rent a 1-1/2″ by 3/4″ drive, six point socket with breaker bar to drive it. I’d also find a piece of pipe about two feet long to use as a cheater. This would fit over the breaker bar. If you have a Harbor Freight close by they have good prices on homeowner grade tools. If you buy a socket, gring down the end of it so it’s flat. This will give you more bearing area on the skinny hex shaped metal of the element. I’m sorry to use tool lingo, but whomever you deal with should have a clear idea what I’m describing ;).

    Yours, Larry
