    PLS HELP

    hot water was squirting from anode access through plug. Ive turned water off at mains as i dont know what to do…

    If it’s a fairly new water heater, it may be possible to unscrew the anode, wrap it with six wraps of Teflon tape, and screw it back in. If it’s an old water heater, it probably means you need a new one. Fittings that were tight that suddenly start leaking are an indication the tank is rusting out.

    Hello: I’ll add that it could be leaking from elsewhere and this is just the easiest way for water to get out. I’d look at any fittings that are close in addition to the anode. Good luck!
