Hi Tank. I have a Whirlpool E1F50RD045V Electric Water Heater that I installed several years ago. I DO have softened water. All has been well until a few days ago, my water became smelly. If I replace my Anode, will everything go back to normal? How do I know which Anode Rod to buy…length/material? I have read so much on the main site, that I am a little overloaded.

    Thank you!

Just for fun, pour Clorox into the drains and sink overflow in one place it smells and see if that changes anything. Report back after that.

I can do that. I do know that it is only the HOT water that smells…it looks like I left that part out of my original post. But I’ll follow your advice, and see what happens…

    Thanks!
