    How many gallons?

    What is water inlet temperature?

If gas, how many BTUs/hour input?

If electric, what is element wattage?
    One element or two?

All these variables figure into the “when to hot water” answer.

Being you posted 1 hour 10 minutes ago, your water should be at least warm by now and maybe even hot.

Your answer is a bit brief. If this is a 40 gallon gas WH with 125,000 BTU input rate, your 40 gallons will be raised by 90F in 18 minutes. 125,000 BTUs/hour is pretty strong for a residential water heater.

Then there’s this other thing: if this is an electric heater and you installed it and turned it on before you filled it, the elements are fried and you won’t ever have hot water.

But whatever, you have to give us some details about the heater if you want us to help you.
