I have a gas water heater now with a leaking tank that has lasted 24 years. I wish that I had known about anode rods before this one started leaking. I was going to buy a model similar to the one I have now. While looking for info on line, I read reviews and saw so many stories about the new gas models causing problems. Are they as bad as many of the reviews I have read? If so, are electric ones less trouble prone?
There was a period when they were pretty bad. They’ve gotten better and many of the problems have been solved. But you can expect to have to clean the air filters regularly or they’ll shut down. That didn’t use to be true.
