    Hi guys,

You’re located in the SF Bay Area, right? What’s the easiest way to find the residential code (the section about water heaters) for the city of Richmond? Would it be online somewhere? Or, if the code is the same as other cities, is it possible to find those online anywhere?

    Thanks,

Hello: There may be an on-line source, but the best, most direct way is to call the building department and ask your questions of an inspector. Inspectors are allowed to interpret code, so sometimes it seems you can get interpretations that lead to the work being done somewhat differently in different areas. The best way to not need to guess is to talk to your inspector directly.

    Yours, Larry
