I installed a new water heater in a small river cabin. It is a 28 gallon heater, I have the thermostats set to 125 and it takes the water forever to get hot. If you leave it over night the water gets so hot it will scald you for a little while and then it cools back down (no leaks). Whats up with that?

Hello: It seems you have two different problems. The slow heating may be a voltage or wiring problem. I’d check to be sure the heater is being supplied with its rated voltage. If not, that’s your problem. Overheating with a new heater is the manufacturer’s problem. I’d give them a call and see what they want to do. Normally all parts are covered for a year. There is a possibility that both problems are caused by a defective element. Good luck … and let us know what you learn from the manufacturer 😉

    Yours, Larry
