The water heater at my moms house broke down a couple of days ago so I had to go buy a new one and install it for her. She told me she wanted a tankless model, but after doing some research I figured a regular tank water heater would be better instead. Not to mention a heck of a lot cheaper.

Now my mom is all upset with me because she thinks a tank water heater isn’t as good as a tankless. She wanted the Rheem RTG-95XLN tankless water heater that she read about here, but instead I got her a 40 gallon electric water heater from lowes instead.

Please tell me I did the right thing so I can show my mom this thread so she will stop being upset. There’s 3 (sometimes 4) people living in her home btw.

Try having her read my page, here: http://www.waterheaterrescue.com/Longevity/tankless-water-heaters.html and having her watch the Youtube clip that is referenced at the end of the Bottom Line subtopic. Let us know how this goes. By the way, that looks like an adequate tank for four people.

Hello, Here is a somewhat entertaining version of an answer. I don’t quite agree with them on the maintenance needed by tank type heaters, but heck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vffdymvjluk 😀
