getting back draft from the vent that goes out through the side wall on my two year old gas water heater. I put the cloth around the vent temporarily so I can ignite the burner since backdraft would blow the flame downward. It worked for two days and then today it went out again. Can I wrap a little finer sreen around vent to minimize the backdrafts. Any thoughts guys or gals. Thanks

Hello: A little more info on the type of heater is needed. Is it a standard atmospheric type, or a direct vent or a modern(er) flame-guard type? If it’s not a direct vent, how high above the nearest roof does the vent end?

You really don’t want to start making modifications to vents. 😮

    Yours, Larry
