The Tank Tank repair Reply To: Tank repair

Larry Weingarten

During and after World War Two, there were shortages of many things in the US. Water heaters were one of those things you simply could not get. So, when heaters leaked, a special wedge shaped screw called a tank plug got screwed into the leak, pressing a heavy rubber washer against the tank wall, hopefully stopping the leak. They worked best if one was optimistic about it 😎 JB Weld and the conditions it will meet with a hot water tank might require that same optimism. It’s tough to deal with variable pressure, heat and thermal expansion. A new anode will certainly slow further damage. Do check it in no more than one year to see how it’s doing. Good luck 😉
