Hello: I’d prefer to store a heater wet so the anode could protect it. The only problem is stagnation and odor. If one is willing to maintain it during storage by adding peroxide, this works, otherwise it’s cumbersome.

Sediment will not dry brick hard in my experience, but rather, become sandy. Hard sediment is really only a problem in commercial heaters that have a higher firing rate.
