Hello: Using something pointy, like a small screwdriver, poke down and around in the foam where the knock out was. If there is an anode, you’ll feel the difference in height. Cut away the foam with a small knife and (after water pressure is removed and power off) remove the anode. If it still has much metal left…maintain the tank. If it is down to a bare wire, replace the tank.
