The Tank › Need help figuring out power consumption of a water heater (2 different size heaters) › Reply To: Need help figuring out power consumption of a water heater (2 different size heaters)
Thanks Larry. A bathtub is not an issue for me so that’s out.
The heater is indoors but not really in a heated area as I only heat the part of the house that I’m in and the heater won’t be there anyway.
Are you telling me that if the heater were in a warmer room so that the insulation would keep it fairly warm, it wouldn’t need to keep heating and therefore, no power consumption no matter what size tank?
I started thinking about a bigger tank maintaining the temperature better because of the larger quantity of water but then, if it lost temperature, the smaller one would be cheaper to heat…?
I DID find a 15 gallon tank though and I think it would be the size for me ’cause 5 gallons was too small but I COULD take a very quick shower with it so I’m thinking that something three times the capacity might be just right.
My concern here is power consumption and how different it would be for different size tanks. Clearly, a bigger one would be nice (19 or so) but again, how much more would that be from a 15 gallon in the same area on the same setting.
