If you do that and everything is OK, I’d have you consider putting TWO anodes in — one in place of the one you removed and another in the hot-water port. Then check one of them in a year and report back to us on what you find.

I’m using a gas water heater, and when I checked the condition of the under side of the heater following the instructions in the Know-how, I see that the under side is covered with about 30% rust, what do you think? 🙂
