Hello: I can tell you what I do, but cannot suggest you do it unless you’ve got decent plumbing skills. Start by turning power to the heater off before your shower. This will cool down the tank. Prepare a plastic lined steel nipple, ball valve and hose adaptor to act as a drain. Turn off cold inlet to tank and open a tap to bleed off pressure. Close the tap and remove old drain. Expect a little water. Immediately put your new drain in place. Most likely you will be able to run wated and sediment through the new drain. If not, it is not hard to poke a stiff wire or screwdriver through the opened valve into the sediment to loosen it. This is done with the water off of course 😉
