You probably don’t need a new water heater, but I’m afraid you do need someone who can troubleshoot your problem and fix it. There is a step by step walkthrough under Tanklets elsewhere on the site, but you need to know how to use a multimeter to use it. Most likely there is a bad thermostat or element, but it’s probably going to take a plumber to figure it out.
