I have 3 identical Moen faucets. The handles are attached to a ring with an intermediate rectangular section which is threaded on the inside. The screw for the handle passes through the intermediate piece and screws a keyed plastic piece to the handle end.

The handle plus intermediate piece combo is then set in place over what I assume is the cartridge, such that the keyed piece described above fits over the matching keyed piece. The intermediate piece, which is not connected to anything, is then threaded down onto the opening above the cartridge until snug with the escutcheon.

There is very little separation between the bottom of the handle and the top of the intermediate piece. However, over the last year (since installation), the handles have become loose. I removed one to tighten the screw but it was not loose.

After further investigation, it seems as though the keyed sections are either wearing. I contacted moen and they sent me new handles after I explained the issue.

The new handles are definitely more snug but do display a hint of wobble. Which makes me think either the keyed plastic pieces are detective or possibly not overlapping enough.

How do I get to the bottom of this?

could you please move the faucet discussion to a new thread? My apologies for not doing it in the first place
