Twenty-four inches is not a problem. My flex combo is good down to about 12. On the other hand, you COULD use a powered anode. But you shouldn’t need one for quite awhile. The tricky thing will be to remember to replace the factory anode as the tank goes out of warranty. That’s six years from now, plenty of time to forget.
