thanks for all the info. but, when i tell this to the electician or the handyman, they think i am crazy & they say that this should only affect an electric water heater & mine is gas. i try to explain it’s not about the heater, it’s about the grounding, but they do not understand! my home is only 7 yrs old, so i will just hope it’s properly grounded. the one thing i worry about is that i did have a water softener installed, & i can see that it has plastic pipes going into the copper pipes.
anyway, i’ve had the new water heater installed & am saving my money to get another one in 3 years!
