Auer antique water heater

This bath heater is Spanish, but of German design. Karl Auer, eventually Karl Auer von Welsbach, was the inventor of gas street lighting and was always looking for new uses for gas.

This heater dates from around 1911. Like the Metters of a decade later, it has a switch toward the top to permit it to direct water either to a bathtub or to a shower.

There are controls for gas and for water flow and volume.
