If you want to find the solution to a problem, we offer several troubleshooting possibilities.

You can go to our forum, The Tank and post a question there. If you choose that route, you could do worse than to first go to Lingo and make sure you know the water heater terms that can help you frame your question.

Also be aware that there is only one person running this site and but a few who regularly answer questions, although visitors with knowledge are quite welcome to chime in. All of us tend to be quite busy and do not monitor The Tank continuously. That said, we do try to check in as frequently as possible and answer if we feel qualified to do so.

Also, there is a good chance that if you read through the postings, or search on an issue, you'll find the answer to your question.

Do not send us questions about troubleshooting problems by e-mail. The Tank was created expressly to solve problems in a way that benefits more people than the questioner. On the other hand, if you're trying to figure out something about our products, ask away.

If you're in more of a hurry, there is also a good chance you can find an answer to your problem among our written resources. These include:

Stinky Water -- If your hot water smells like rotten eggs, here are some solutions.

Not Enough Hot Water -- This is one of the most common complaints. It can have several answers.

Tanklets -- This includes questions people asked us directly in the past when lesser volume did permit us to answer, and interesting posts from The Tank, including common issues people encounter again and again.

Quick -- Some quick solutions to common problems, plus counsels and warnings. It's a page left over from our early days that we've decided to keep.

Finally, if you have a maintenance emergency, you probably ought to call a plumber rather than wait for a solution from the Internet. If your problem involves a leaking water heater, we suggest you read up at Choosing a Water Heater so that if you have to replace one, you can make a wise choice.
